Torch Volunteers
If you are interested in the Theatre and would like to get more involved, you may like to join our Front of House or Marketing teams as a Volunteer.
JOIN THE TORCH TEAM AND BE A STAR!
We're often looking for new members to join our growing Front of House Team.
Providing a warm welcome to thousands of customers every year - checking tickets, selling programmes and sweets as well as playing a key role in ensuring audience safety, our volunteers are invaluable members of the Torch Team.
We provide refreshments whilst on duty and complimentary or reduced priced tickets to the wonderful range of films and performances that we have to offer throughout the year. If you'd like to meet new people, learn more about the way the Torch runs, watch some fantastic shows and films and play a key role supporting Pembrokeshire's premier theatre, then please get in touch by calling Kirsty on 01646 694192 or drop her an email: kirsty@torchtheatre.co.uk.
Torch Volunteers are local people with a love of theatre who give freely of their time to contribute in many ways to the successful running of the Torch Theatre. They are vital members of the Torch Team and the time and commitment that they continually give to the Theatre is much appreciated.
Some 45 volunteers currently work with our Front of House Team. Some have worked previously at the Torch but many are newcomers to theatre work and after a short training course and shadowing experienced staff, they soon settle into their new roles. The training course includes fire safety, customer service, theatre policy and health and safety. We hold volunteer training sessions throughout the year to enhance skills and most importantly to socialise. The current team are aged between 16 and 70 years plus, and include students, professionals and retired people so you have every opportunity to make new friends.
The Marketing Department also have a team of Volunteers who assist in the regular distribution of posters, flyers and season brochures around the County and are an important point of contact in some of our more rural villages. From village Post Offices and corner shops to town amenities, cafés, restaurants and local clubs – these Volunteers assist us in extending our publicity throughout the County, helping to spread the word, and to encourage others to enjoy the work of one of Wales’ most respected theatres. However, not everyone wants to be out and about - so we have a small group who come in every couple of weeks to help us put together the latest mail shots.
The Marketing Department are currently seeking Volunteers with a couple hours to spare every three to four weeks to look after our poster outlets in Fishguard, Solva, Neyland, Johnston and many of our other smaller coastal towns and villages need looking after too, so do get in touch if you think you can help by calling Karen on 01646 694192 or email her: karen@torchtheatre.co.uk. It's a great way to keep fit!
