Hello, I’m Emma Cox and I work as the Marketing Officer here at the Torch Theatre.

I only recently joined the Torch Theatre team and it’s been such an exciting start to my first job out of university. I graduated from Bath Spa University with a degree in Journalism and Publishing, and I’ve always wanted to work somewhere that brings together storytelling, creativity and community. The Torch felt like the perfect place to begin my career.

My journey with the Torch actually started before I officially joined the team. After chatting with Anwen, who gave me some really helpful advice about finding my path in creative journalism and marketing, I spoke with Annie about becoming a community writer for the Torch. That experience gave me a real insight into how much passion and creativity flows through this place, and before long I found myself stepping into the Marketing Officer role this summer.

It’s been a whirlwind few months learning new programs, finding my rhythm and getting used to the fast-paced world of theatre marketing, but I’ve loved every minute of it. Every day is different and working alongside such a kind, talented and supportive team makes it even better.

My love for the arts runs deep, with a huge adoration for music and culture. I spend a lot of time at gigs and exhibitions, always chasing that spark of creativity that makes you see the world in a new way. I’ve got a soft spot for anything from the 1970s, from the fashion to the music to the whole attitude to life, but I love anything that tells a story or celebrates self-expression. I might not be brave enough to step on stage myself, but give me a musical or a cult classic and I’m hooked!.

I feel really proud to be part of a place that cares so deeply about the community and the arts in Pembrokeshire. The Torch is such a creative hub for this corner of the world, and as someone happiest at home by the coastline, it feels incredibly special to work somewhere that celebrates culture, creativity and the people who make this area so unique.
