Torch Theatre’s Sunset Cinema Season Returns!

Torch Theatre is delighted to announce its Sunset Cinema season for 2025, in association with Pure West Radio, official media partner. From Pembroke Castle to Saundersfoot Harbour and an exciting new venue for this year, Cardigan Castle, there’s a film and location to suit all. The Torch is also pleased to announce that there will be selected matinee screenings of family friendly films using a state-of-the-art outdoor LED screen.

Sunset Cinema will kick off the 2025 season on Saturday 26 July with the ever-popular Top Gun: Maverick at Saundersfoot Harbour, followed by a double-bill of Toy Story and Bohemian Rhapsody on Friday 1 August at the same venue. Grease is the word on Friday 8 August and will entertain all on a Summer Night.

Cardigan Castle has joined the Torch Theatre’s Sunset Cinema season this year, showing Toy Story and Top Gun on Thursday 7 August. On the afternoon of Thursday 14 August The Lion King will be screened followed by Elvis that same evening. Back in Saundersfoot on Friday 15 August, the feel-good summer hit Grown Ups will delight audiences. Tŵr y Felin, St Davids will delight audiences on Saturday 16 August with Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl. Two weeks later and with the summer holidays in full swing, Saundersfoot Harbour will screen The Lion King on the afternoon of Friday 22 August. And that same evening, dance and sing along to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again! Over in Cardigan Castle the following evening, 23 August, see Saturday Night Fever (18).

“The Torch Theatre can’t wait to entertain you during the long, warm summer days and nights at several iconic locations across our beautiful county. From Saundersfoot Harbour to Pembroke Castle, what better venues to watch your favourite films on a glorious sunny afternoon or understar-studded skies. And we’re also looking forward to venturing into south Ceredigion to Cardigan Castle with our big screen to entertain all,” said Chelsey Gillard, Torch Theatre’s Artistic Director.

Pembroke Castle will magically transform into Hogwarts as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets hits the big screen on Friday 29 August. We then look towards the Western sky as Wicked arrives at the Castle on Saturday 30 August.

“We try not to let the Pembrokeshire weather affect our outdoor screenings and if it rains the show will go on. Only in the case of extreme weather, such as dangerously high winds will the screenings be cancelled. We advise everyone to dress appropriately and to check the weather forecast before each screening,” added Chesley.
