Autumn Thriller To Make Your Spine Tingle At The Torch ...

A fast-paced, heart pounding thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat is haunting the Torch Theatre this October in The Turn of the Screw. The Torch will produce the classic thriller, full of psychological intensity, originally written by Henry James in 1898 as its Autumn production. Audiences will be questioning who dun it and your journey home during the spooky season could be nerve wracking...

The Torch Theatre Company is renowned for its home-grown productions that feature local professional actors and the very best of theatrical talent from across Wales.

Artistic Director Chelsey Gillard said: “I love a mystery, and this play is an absolute puzzle. The novella that the play is based on is one of the most famous stories of all time. It has been adapted into plays, operas, TV series and countless films.

“The story captures the imagination and haunts you. This version is also a chance for two really brilliant actors to show off their skills and give virtuoso performances – we’ll be announcing the cast soon, so keep your eyes peeled. Autumn is also the ideal time to gather inside and tell ghost stories and this play is full of ghosts!”

Fans of Kill Thy Neighbour (Torch Theatre’s 2024 co-production thriller), The Woman in Black or 2:22 A Ghost Story will feel right at home watching this gothic nail-biting drama. The story may seem eerily familiar as it was also the inspiration for the Netflix hit The Haunting of Bly Manor as well as countless films.

Full of suspense, unease and uncertainty, the show may make you leave the light on after going home, after all, do ghosts really exist or are they a figment of our imagination?

The Torch is also introducing a new approach to ticket prices for this production meaning that there are tickets available at every performance for just £18. You’ll have to book quickly to grab those £18 seats, because once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Chelsey concluded: “Come along if you love a good mystery, with some thrills and chills along the way. Like any Torch Theatre show expect brilliant actors and theatrical magic. The set design is already shaping up to be breathtaking.”

The Turn of the Screw will appear on the Torch Theatre stage for a two week stint from Wednesday 8 October to Saturday 25 October. Tickets: £18-£28. To book tickets via the website visit torchtheatre.co.uk / phone the Box Office on 01646 695267 or click here
