Local Pembrokeshire companies give back to the community to support the Torch Theatre’s Christmas Wishes campaign.

This festive season the Torch Theatre has teamed up with a number of local businesses who have kindly sponsored a family ticket to give Pembrokeshire families the opportunity of seeing the theatre’s annual pantomime, this year the magical Aladdin.

Christmas Wishes is an opportunity for families who might be suffering from bereavement, illness or social-economic difficulties to take some much-welcomed respite to visit the theatre for an evening of enjoyment and entertainment through the magic of pantomime.

The Torch through the support of PAVS has teamed up with two great local charities, PATCH and Action for Children, who will distribute the tickets through their networks to local families allowing them the chance to experience the pantomime and theatre; the majority who will see a show or visit the theatre for the very first time.

Tracy Olin, Manager of PATCH, a charity which fights hardship and hunger said: “There are families that have never been to a pantomime and can’t even afford to pay for the children to go with their school. When I spoke to one family to tell the family the news I could hear how excited the children were in the background. To say they're excited is a huge understatement - oh no they aren't! Oh yes they really are! Thank you so, so much for making this family so happy.”

The support from local businesses and community groups towards this scheme has been incredibly well received with 14 sponsors so far showing their goodwill at this time of year. The sponsors involved are Glyn Edwards, Forrest Print, NexMedia, Media to Motion Ltd, Milford Haven Round Table, Tenby Round Table, Wilson Wines, Upton Farm, Ticketsolve, SCH Services, LAMOS Motorcycles, Towergate, NAT Solutions Ltd and GGT Thomas & Son Ltd.

Charlotte Phillips, Service Co-Ordinator for Action for Children Pembrokeshire added: “Action for Children Pembrokeshire are delighted to be part of Christmas Wishes at the Torch Theatre. The kind sponsorship from local businesses will allow families to attend the pantomime who otherwise due to great hardship would not be able to do so. This will make some of the most disadvantaged families be able to do something wonderful that a lot take for granted this Christmas. They will have fun and make family memories to treasure for ever. Thank you very much to all at the Torch Theatre for making this happen.”

The Torch Theatre, which itself is a registered charity, is thrilled by all the support and goodwill shown towards Christmas Wishes. Alex Lloyd, Senior Manager for Marketing, Press and PR further added: "I would like to thank all the sponsors for all their support in making Christmas Wishes happen. The local business community of Pembrokeshire have really come together to give a little bit back this festive season. The Christmas Wishes tickets will make a huge difference to a number of families and we hope that they really enjoy our magical pantomime, Aladdin, here at the Torch this December.”
