Twenty Years of the Met in Cinemas
Twenty Years of the Met in Cinemas is a celebration of the Met’s two decades of onstage glory as experienced in cinemas, featuring highlights from the company’s collection of more than 185 extraordinary onscreen performances. And, for one night only on Saturday 19 September, Torch Theatre audiences can join the celebrations.
Hosted by star soprano Renée Fleming, this special presentation will showcase unforgettable moments from some of opera’s greatest stars, selected from the series’ vast archive of broadcasts featuring such remarkable artists as Lise Davidsen, Natalie Dessay, Joyce DiDonato, Juan Diego Flórez, Elīna Garanča, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Jonas Kaufmann, Peter Mattei, Matthew Polenzani, Sondra Radvanovsky, Nadine Sierra, and, of course, Fleming herself.
“We are delighted to be screening this wonderful showcase of the Met’s highlights and performances here at the Torch Theatre. From Norwegian soprano, Lise Davidsen, who has taken the classical music world by storm and described as being ‘In a League of her own,’ by Peter Gelb, General Manager for the Metropolitan Opera to the most gifted and distinguished lyric tenors, Matthew Polenzani, audiences are most certainly in for a treat,” said Anwen Francis from the Torch Theatre’s Marketing Team.
Twenty Years of the Met in Cinemas can be seen on the Torch Theatre screen on Saturday 29 September at 6pm. Tickets: £20 / £18 cons / £9 U26. Book tickets via the website torchtheatre.co.uk / Box Office: 01646 695267 or click here.
