Allo, Allo at the Torch
Are you a fan of the British whimsical and light-hearted sitcom ‘Allo, Allo’? With its often slapstick humour and its over-the-top characters and situations based on the hugely successful television series, New Xenon presents this uproarious comedy at the Torch Theatre this June.
Relating to the adventures of a hapless cafe owner, Rene, in occupied France, you can see all of your favourite TV characters in the flesh, including Rene's tone-deaf wife Edith, policeman Officer Crabtree, Gestapo officer Herr Flick, Michelle of the Resistance, and many more as New Xenon performs four times on the Torch stage over three days!
Rene and Edith have stashed a priceless portrait stolen by the Nazis in a sausage in their cellar, where two British airmen are also hiding until the Resistance can repatriate them. Communications with London using the wireless that is disguised as a cockatoo adds to the many embarrassments this intrepid proprietor endures in the company of his patrons. News that the Führer is scheduled to visit the town inspires tricksters disguised as Hitler to frequent the cafe. Meanwhile, Rene summons all the wit he can muster to save his café and his life.
This is the first production brought to you by New Xenon; a brand-new amateur theatre company formed by members of the much-loved Xenon Liberal Arts, who many theatre goers will remember fondly.
Allison Butler, the Director (who also plays Michelle of the Resistance) said:
“We’re thrilled to bring this hilarious show to the Torch as our maiden production for New Xenon Theatre Company. The cast members really are doing a wonderful job of bringing all the characters to life and we’re looking forward to welcoming you to Café Rene!”
And Jordan Dickin who plays Officer Crabtree added:
“Rehearsals have been an absolute blast, and it’s a joy to embody such an iconic character. Listen very carefully, I will say this only once…make it a Good Moaning and buy your tickets before they disappear like phantoms into the night!”
Tickets for Allo Allo on Thursday 19 June at 7.30pm, Friday 20 June at 7.30pm, Saturday 21 June at 2.30pm and 7.30pm are £18 / £16 concessions for the Thursday performance only. Visit the website for further details www.torchtheatre.co.uk / phone the Box Office on (01646) 695267 or click here.
