Shwmae! My name is Darcey and I am thrilled to be playing the role of Maid Marian in this summer's production of Robin Hood: The Legend of the Black Knight. Rehearsals have been full of fun and I'm extremely eager for everyone to see what we've been working on. 

Torch Youth Theatre is a special place for any young person to build their confidence whilst learning skills that are guaranteed to help them in the future. Torch Youth Theatre always has a friendly atmosphere! Speaking as a member of The Torch for nearly ten years, I can proudly say it’s the most welcoming environment I've ever been a part of. Everyone, peers and adults alike, support each other at every given opportunity with a strong sense of community.

Although I enjoy every aspect of our weekly sessions, my favourite part of rehearsals has been developing the relationships between characters. It's been really interesting to see those connections grow as we learn more about each character and experiment with different choices in rehearsal. Everyone brings their own ideas into the room and it's truly a creative collaboration. I think people would be surprised at how much we laugh during rehearsals. Of course we work very hard but there's always time for a joke and a laugh, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.

So why should you come and watch? This production has something for everyone! It's a show for all ages, with comedy, plot twists, and of course, romance. It's a fresh take on the classic tale everyone knows and loves. We can't wait to share it with you! I recently discovered that I have been accepted onto the Professional Pathways course with the National Youth Theatre of Wales. Only 50 people aged 16-22 are offered a space so I'm honoured to be given this opportunity.

The Torch Youth Theatre has played a huge part in preparing me for opportunities like this, helping me become the performer I am today and giving me the confidence and skills to take on new challenges.
