Torch Welcomes the Writer of Award Winning Show ‘Oh Hello’ to its Stage

Are you a Carry On fan? Do you enjoy slapstick, innuendos and bawdy jokes? Look no further than the Torch Theatre on Friday 12 September as comedian, actor and writer of the award winning play Oh Hello! And When the Carry On Stopped comes to the Torch with a new show – Carry On Woking! This new comedy show is all about the Carry On films, being woke and the town of Woking, written by and starring Dave Ainsworth.

We all love some British comedy and there is no better entertainment than those side splitting belly laughs of Carry On Sergeant, Carry on Teacher, Carry on Nurse, Carry on Constable, Carry on Camping, Carry On Up the Khyber  to name a few. The wonderful, memorable actors -Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims, Kenneth Connor, Peter Butterworth, Terry Scott, Bernard Bresslaw, Hattie Jacques, Barbara Windsor, Jack Douglas and Jim Dale, bring smiles to our faces.

All my shows are designed to educate as well as entertain and therefore the audience should learn things they did not know about me, the actors who were in the Carry On films and the town of Woking,” explained Dave, who, for the purpose of research, stayed in Woking overnight and was suitably impressed.

But why is Dave such a fan of the Carry On films?

I’m a fan of the actors in the Carry On films and consider them to be underrated as performers. The Carry On films still stand up as comedy vehicles. I'm not alone in loving them. Last year, I attended a Carry On conference and there were hundreds of people there,” explained Dave who describes his show as ‘saucy, silly shenanigans.’

But is it possible to be ‘woke’ and still love the Carry On films? Dave certainly thinks so. His understanding is based on copious research. Wake up and smell the comedy!

Carry On Woking by Dave Ainsworth can be seen on the Torch Theatre stage on Friday 12 September at 7.30pm. Tickets: £15. Visit the website for further details www.torchtheatre.co.uk / phone the Box Office on (01646) 695267 or click here.
