“I’m passionate about building confidence and improving people's wellbeing through the arts” – Freya Dare

Here at the Torch Theatre, wellbeing is at the heart of all our engagement and community activities. And our brand-new programme of FREE events A Warm Space at the Torch is no exception. We are pleased to be offering a series of fun filled drama sessions aimed at those over 50, that will concentrate on wellbeing. These run from this month until the end of March 2024.

We know that ‘doing drama’ can feel quite intimidating but our sessions are open and relaxed with no previous experience necessary, and there is no pressure to take part in all the activities in a session – just do what feels comfortable for you.

Dance/drama artist Freya Dare from Pembrokeshire who runs her own Theatre Company Forest Fairies and Friends Theatre can’t wait to host the fun drama sessions and to meet new people.

Freya said: “I'm so looking forward to being a part of A Warm Space at The Torch over the next few months. I’m a Community Dance and Drama Artist in the area and love projects that mix arts with fun social aspects too.”

Over the years, Freya has been involved with community projects for Primary School, Care Homes, Ballet Cymru, Dance Well- Arts Care, Forest Fairies and Friends Theatre and My Moves - an inclusive dance group at the Torch Theatre and is passionate about building confidence and improving people's wellbeing through the arts. 

Freya concluded: “My workshops are inclusive, creative and joyful. I like to create a space where we express and try out new things in a fun and encouraging way. We will be looking at a range of different drama activities over the weeks from drama/movement based games, creating characters, scenes from Welsh plays, comedy acting and creative tasks. 

The classes are for everyone to have some fun, meet new people and socialise at the lovely Torch Theatre.”
