Torch Theatre Celebrates Pride Month

To celebrate Pride Month, the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven will be screening two films during June – The Wedding Banquet (15) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (12A). Both films will highlight LGBTQ+ stories and themes and are priced at only £5.00.

Directing The Wedding Banquet is Andrew Ahn. This joyful American romantic comedy of errors about a chosen family navigating the disasters and delights of family expectations, queerness, and cultural identity is a re-make of the 1993 film of the same name. Angela and her partner Lee have been unlucky with their IVF treatments, but can’t afford to pay for another round. Meanwhile, their friend Min, the closeted scion of a multinational corporate empire, has plenty of family money but a soon-to-expire student visa. When his commitment-phobic boyfriend Chris rejects his proposal, Min makes the offer to Angela instead: a green card marriage in exchange for funding Lee’s IVF. But their plans to quietly elope are upended when Min’s sceptical grandmother flies in from Korea unannounced, insisting on an all-out wedding extravaganza.

The Wedding Banquet can be seen on three occasions throughout June - Sunday 15 June at 6.45pm, Tuesday 17 June at 5.15pm and Saturday 21 June at 7.15pm.

At the end of June, people can see The Rocky Horror Picture Show where a newly-engaged couple have a breakdown in an isolated area and must seek shelter at the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-n-Furter where they search for help. The musical comedy horror film sees the couple coming face to face with an apparently mad scientist in the galaxy of Transylvania.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show can be seen on the Torch Theatre screen on Friday 27 June at 7.30pm. Tickets: £5. To book tickets via the website visit torchtheatre.co.uk / phone the Box Office on 01646 695267 or click here
