Torch Theatre and Theatr Clwyd announce cast for gripping co-production Kill Thy Neighbour

Fans of BBC’s The Traitors, Alan Ayckbourn, Tim Firth or Chekhov won’t want to miss this comedy thriller set in a fictional village here in Pembrokeshire. Kill Thy Neighbour, a Torch Theatre and Theatr Clwyd co-production, will hit the Torch Theatre stage from April 24 – 4 May.

Welcome to the village with views to die for…

Caryl and Meirion have lived in their postcard-perfect village for years – raising a family, repeatedly decorating, whilst watching their community slowly disappear.

Now Caryl wants to escape, but Meirion defiantly wants to stay.

Is it loyalty?

Belonging?

Or a dark secret that will keep them here forever?

Written by Wrexham-born Lucie Lovatt, the limited run of Kill Thy Neighbour is Lucie’s first full-length play, a dark comedy about love, murder and feeling trapped in your own life. It is directed by Torch Theatre’s very own award-winning Artistic Director, Chelsey Gillard following her record breaking 2023 pantomime, Beauty and the Beast.

“Kill Thy Neighbour is both hilarious and spooky – my favourite combination. It speaks to issues directly affecting many communities in Pembrokeshire, having been inspired by an article Lucie read about the second home crisis in Cwm-yr-Eglwys. I am passionate about new writing and new voices on our stages, this is Lucie’s first play and it is beautifully crafted and entertaining. The Torch is thrilled to be working in collaboration with Theatr Clwyd to bring this major new co-production to life and I can’t wait to share it with audiences in Mold and Milford Haven,” said Chelsey.

The all-star cast has been announced including Victoria John (Gwaith/Cartref, Miranda) as Caryl and Catrin Stewart (Stella, Doctor Who) as Seren,Jamie Redford (Emmerdale, ITV) as Gareth, Gus Gordon (The Sandman, Netflix) as Max and Dafydd Emyr (Danny The Champion Of The World, Sherman Theatre) as Meirion.

The creative team includes Set and Costume Design: Elin Steele, Lighting Design: Lucía Sánchez Roldán, Composer and Sound Design: Tic Ashfield, Assistant Director: Ellie Rose, Casting Director: Polly Jerrold, Company Stage Manager: Alec Reece, Deputy Stage Manager: Tyla Thomas from Pembrokeshire, Assistant Stage Manager: Emma Hardwick.

Kill Thy Neighbour will be performed at Theatr Clwyd from 2-20 April. The show will then take place at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, from 24 April – 4 May. Tickets are £23. Concessions: £20. Under 26: £10. BSL Interpreted Performance - 2nd May (Interpreted by Liz May). Booking is available by clicking here or by calling 01646 695267.
