FINDING CHESTER INTERVIEW!

On Wednesday 31 May the Torch Theatre will open its doors to a wonderful drama for the whole family – Finding Chester! We wanted to find out about Edith Tiddles and her beloved cat Chester, so sent Anwen from the Marketing Team to ask some questions … enjoy the read!

Tell us a little bit more about Edith … will we fall in love with her and her dear cat Chester?

Young Edith Tiddles used to be a great dancer, gracing the stage in classics such as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Cats’.  But after an unfortunate dancing accident, where Edith was dropped, she broke her leg and lost all confidence. Believing that her dancing career was over, she refused to leave her house, and became house bound and isolated.

Then, after a number of years, a small lost kitten turned up on her doorstep.  Unable to leave it out in the rain, Edith took the cat in and named him Chester.

Finding Chester is a story about friendship, the journey of Chester and about Edith moving forward.

Describe ‘Finding Chester’ in three words

Fast-paced, musical and imaginative

What important messages are conveyed in Finding Chester?

Accepting people of different ages, making new friends and helping those struggling with challenging circumstances.

Where did the idea for the play come from?

After lockdown and experiencing isolation, we wanted to create a play that highlighted the ongoing issues around this.

Is this your first time at the Torch, and if so are you looking forward to performing on our Pembrokeshire stage?

Yes, our first time and very much looking forward to performing with you.

What’s the best part in the play for you?

We have a street alley scene which is my favourite part.

The play is also educational – explain what educational elements there are.

We have created a teacher’s pack which links the show into various parts of the curriculum.

And the most important question of all …. Will Edith ever be reunited with her beloved Chester?

Spoiler alert… YES, Edith is reunited with Chester.
