MY MIX(ED UP) TAPE SCRATCH NIGHT 6PM SATURDAY 29 OCTOBER

Dirty Protest Theatre in partnership with RCT Theatres are producing and touring an innovative new comedy-drama, written, and performed by first-time writer Katie Payne with a live set by DJ Glade Marie. My Mix(ed-Up) Tapeexplores anger and especially female anger; Phoebe’s years of frustration born of her Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and childhood bullying churns into anger, exploding on stage in through the production’s visual vernacular physical theatre.

It is especially designed to bring attention to ADHD in women and girls, which is under-diagnosed and manifests in different ways than it does in men and boys.

The production team have integrated access into the whole fabric of the play from its early stages; the script has audio description written into the text, creative captions form part of the design of the show and BSL interpretation by Sami Dunn is integrated into some performances. Visual vernacular - a form of physical theatre expression (a mix of mime, physical movement, gesture, facial expressions and key BSL signs) largely performed by Deaf artists informs the production’s physical theatre.

The Show comes to the Torch Theatre on Saturday 29th in the Studio Theatre. Dirty Protest have also paired up with The Torch theatre to Show Case 6 writers from West Wales who will perform 6 short plays (6pm- 7pm) in 60minuets, Before the My Mix(ed Up) Tape show (7:30pm)
