Get creative, time is running out!

The countdown has begun and there’s only one week left for the young people of Pembrokeshire to design a piece of treasure for the Torch Theatre’s festive pantomime this year - Puss in Boots! Puss has lost her treasure deep in the mines of the Preseli Mountains here in the county and needs your help to find it, so what are you waiting for, get designing so the show can go on!

Over the past few years, the Torch Theatre has held a design competition where school children have been asked to design various objects for the pantomime stage, from Belle’s Ball Gown to the very big Golden Croc and the Aquantis with its long tentacles.

“We’ve already received loads of entries from schools and individuals and we can’t wait to receive yours. The treasure can be made of any object, any shape and size. It can be silly or sensible, dazzling or gleaming with glitter, the choice is yours. Let your imagination run wild – a scooter made of solid gold perhaps or an i-pad made of rubies, the possibilities are endless,” said Tim Howe, Torch Theatre’s Senior Manager Youth and Community.

The design pictures to be submitted can be in any format - made of a collage of images and textures, cut-outs from magazines, strips of material, created on the computer or they could be hand drawn.

There are three age categories: Under 5s, 5 – 10 and 11 – 18. A winner will be chosen from each category, and an overall winner will see their design being made into an actual object in the pantomime. All the designs will be displayed in our gallery space during December.

All images should be on an A4 piece of paper and no bigger and include the following information on the back: the name of the designer, school / college, contact details. Send your entries to: Puss in Boots – Treasure Hunt, Torch Theatre, St Peter's Rd, Milford Haven, SA73 2BU by Saturday 24 October.

Puss in Boots can be seen at the Torch Theatre from Saturday 5 December to Saturday 2 January. Relaxed Environment Performance: 19 December at 2pm. BSL Interpreted Performance: Tuesday 22 December at 6pm. Book your tickets via the website at torchtheatre.co.uk / Box Office: 01646 695267.
