What a terrific three nights! What a show!

Once again, the young people of Pembrokeshire excelled themselves on the Torch Theatre stage with their summer show of Robin Hood: The Legend of the Black Knight being hailed a ‘huge success’ by audience members.

Over 50 young people from the county took to the stage in what has been described as “brilliant” and “so creative” by one of Torch Theatre’s youngest reviewers, Freya who added that she “wished to see it again.”

This brand new version of the classic tale featured on the Torch Theatre stage for three nights of thrilling adventures and excitement and featured all of the elements of the story we know and love. From Robin Hood robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, to the Sheriff of Nottingham up to no good, and Maid Marian being the feisty heroine we all need.

The production was supported primarily by the Port of Milford Haven and the Ingles Charitable Trust, as well as a host of small local independent businesses.

Tim Howe, Director of the show said:

“What a terrific three nights! What a show! And what amazing young people we have here in Pembrokeshire who all worked so very hard both on stage and behind the scenes to bring audience members a great theatre experience! I am extremely proud of every single member of the Torch Youth Theatre.”

He added: “Together we created a production that we knew would give  everyone involved a meaningful moment ‘in the spotlight’. With large ensemble action-filled moments, to quieter character-driven scenes there was a space to suit everyone’s skills. Torch Youth Theatre aims not just to develop the young people’s acting skills, but also their confidence, teamwork, as well as their imagination, and large-scale productions like this are the perfect opportunity to do just that!”

Torch Youth Theatre is open to anyone from in school year 3 up to age 18 and runs during school term times. They will be back from September with another jam-packed year of activities. If you want to get involved contact tim@torchtheatre.co.uk to get on their email list or keep an eye on the Torch Theatre social media for details on how to sign up.
