"FIGHTERS" is a new feature length documentary aiming to inspire non-disabled people to join the fight for disability equality in society.
"Disabled people don't have equal access to education, healthcare, employment, housing and generally disabled people are forgotten about and excluded. So it's a real fight for disabled people on a daily basis just to survive". [Baroness Grey-Thompson, FIGHTERS].
Featuring a host of disability equality advocates including Baroness Grey-Thompson, Jodie Ounsley (a.k.a Fury the Gladiator) and Isaac Harvey MBE, the documentary tells the story of amputee boxer Matt Edwards who dreams of becoming professional but is constantly denied an assessment for a boxing license due to his prosthesis.
Matt's story parallels the ableism and discrimination disabled people face everyday simply trying to be part of and contribute to society. Our expert contributors in the film share their lived experience and guide a non-disabled audience through this important and complex issue.
These screenings are supported by UKSPF funding through Pembrokeshire County Council.
